Quartz Care & Use
- Use a clean cloth or sponge with mild soap and warm water for routine daily cleaning. Be sure to rinse thoroughly, as soap residue can affect the appearance of your Quartz.
- For stubborn spots or greasy clean-ups, use a soft cloth, sponge or a non-scratch pad (White Scotch Brite), use a gentle liquid neutral PH, non-abrasive cleaner along with plenty of water to clean the surface. Care should be taken not to scrub too hard to avoid damage to the countertop surface. Mr. Clean, 409, Simple Green, Fantastic or ordinary dish washing detergent e.g. Palmolive with warm water and a "White Scotch Brite" are all acceptable cleaners.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning agents such as regular Coment and Ajax. IF needed, Don Ami and Bar Keepers Friend are both approved non abrasive cleaning powders that will clean without effecting the quartz finish.
- Never use red or green Scotch Brites on quartz as they contain aluminum oxide (same abrasive in sand paper) and may dull your quartz finish.
- Although Quartz are scratch resistant, it is not scratch proof. You should never cut of chop directly on your countertop. Always use a cutting board.
- Always use a hot pad or trivet when setting down hot objects, such as hot pans or plates. Direct contact with extremely high heat can cause damage. Care should also be taken when using electric household appliances that may emit high heat such as crock pots, electric skillets, hair straightener, curling irons, etc as these can potentially damage the surface.
- Take care to avoid spilling harsh chemicals such as drain cleaners, paint strippers, oven cleaners, bleach, etc. on your new Quartz Countertop. Any accidental spills should immediately be cleaned up and the surface rinsed thoroughly with clean water.
- There is no need to seal your quartz countertops. Sealers cannot penetrate and remain on the surface. Eventually the sealer will start to wear off unevenly in high areas causing the polish to appear inconsistant.
